Benefits of Digital Curation (Specifically Using Padlet)
I must admit that I previously bookmarked any websites I found useful only to have them lost in a sea of bookmarks. I had never actually been concerned about this however, as I never had a reason for needing to access valuable resources routinely in the future.
As a secondary school teacher though, I may potentially be teaching the same content every year, or every few years. It is therefore incredibly important that I learn to not only save my resources but have them easily accessible so that I am not re-inventing the wheel every time I deliver the same content.
Whilst I am still very fresh at using Padlet to create my digital curation, I can see great value in having a single location for all my sources and which also allows me to sort them, add titles and provide extra information. It provides me with a single location where all by resources are stored in a neat and tidy manner.
I also wonder if Padlet can be used to help support the online learning of students. Particularly the Padlet template in the flow chart format (named 'canvas' - see pic below) where students are instructed to start at the begining and progressively make their way through various resources. As a teacher, i could also upload worksheets to the Padlet for students to complete.
Digital curation is incredibly beneficial and I plan on further investigating and utilising the various tools throughout my teaching careers!
